Los partidarios de la  Iglesia de Jesucristo de los Santos de los Últimos Días (también conocidos como SUD o Mormones) basada en Salt Lake City, se jactan de la supuesta “unidad” de sus 12 millones de miembros. Señalando que existen múltiples denominaciones de Iglesias Cristianas, los Mormones atribuyen su “unidad” (por ejemplo: una estructura de iglesia y creencia uniformes) a la revelación de los últimos días y a los libros adicionales que ellos consideran como Escritura.

Ellos desafían a los potenciales conversos a que lean y oren con respecto al Libro de Mormón para ganar un “testimonio” acerca de la veracidad del libro. Afirman que este “testimonio” (que consiste en tener una sensación de “ardor en el pecho”) es la prueba principal para determinar si el potencial converso debe hacerse miembro de la Iglesia Mormona.
